He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennie Carter and Georgia Driver Carter; his wife Betty Carter; his sons, Richie Carter and Mark Fletcher; his daughter-in-law Linda Carter; and his siblings, Ed, Raymond, Marvin, Marlin, Bennie Carter Jr. and Anna Mae Jones.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Carter of Huntland and Rebecca Neeley (Terry) of Hillsboro; and his siblings, Leroy Carter (Linda) of Tullahoma and Annie Ruth Martin (Charles) of Manchester. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
