She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Shelby Jean Barnett Purcell and James Oscar Purcell, Jr.; her pet Vols of Tennessee; her sons, Elijah, Jeremiah and Sam; and her pets, Hershey, Rocky and Little Bit. She was also cherished by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Donations to honor Sam's memory can be made to the Children's Ministry at Leoma Baptist Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
