He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Franklin and Minerva Olive Goewey of Calhoun County, Illinois.; his sons, James William Barnes and Dennis Wayne Barnes; and his siblings, Merlin Barnes, Frank Barnes, Fred Barnes, Leo Barnes and Eileen "Nellie" Barnes Siemens.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Barnes Pierce of Jonesborough, Tim Barnes (Karen) of Jonesborough, Greg Barnes (Jeannie) of Jonesborough, Lisa Barnes of Jonesborough and Pamela Barnes "Pam" Shepherd (Roger) of Jonesborough; his siblings, Doris Barnes Thomas of New Salem, Illinois and Terry Barnes (Shirley) of Elverta, California; his grandchildren, Amanda Barnes Worley (Andrew), Danielle Barnes (Kaleb Kindle), Tequisha Carr Reed (Robbie), Brandy Shepherd Pilkington (Shane), Trenton Barnes, Chelsey Barnes (Bryon Butler), Christopher Shepherd (Tara Ledford), Kacei Pierce and Dennis Barnes (Emilee Adolphson); his great grandchildren, Callie Worley Schubert (Chance), Jacob Worley (Rae Weiland), Jaden Collins (Paige Lillie), Dylan Barnes, Khloe Reed, Aaron Pilkington, Micah Wedding, Kara Kindle and Elijah Worley; and his caregivers, Christina Maness, Melissa Shelton, Ashlee Painter, Ashley Plaster, Kim Coffman and Jackie Hupchuck. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
