He was predeceased by: his wife Lucille Gilbert Hanks; his son Ricky Hanks of Maryville, TN; his parents, Clarence Hanks and Lucille Hanks of Greeneville, TN; and his sister Joyce Cutshaw (Jo) of Chicago, IL..
He is survived by: his son Johnny Hanks (Glenda) of Knoxville, TN; his stepchildren, David Sellers (Linda) of Jefferson City, TN and Donna Eslinger of Land; his daughter-in-law Linda Hanks of Seymour, TN; his sisters, Jeanetta Gilland and Gale Smith of Greeneville, TN; and his grandchildren, Benjamin Hanks, Jordan Hanks, Jeanetta Lane, Erick Hanks, Greg Sellers, Andrea Sellers Jones, Steven Eslinger and Julie Rutherford. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
