He was predeceased by: his parents, Noah Chapman and Beulah Cox Chapman; and his siblings, Robert, Charles, Tommy, Paul, Cabbage Chapman, Ruby White, Helen Smith and Sue Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Chapman; his daughter Heather Sowards (Chris) of Jacksboro; his grandchildren, Sophia Sowards of Jacksboro and Matthew Sowards (Emeri) of Knoxville; his sisters, Jean Hicks of Clinton and Mae Tuscher of LaFollette; and his brother-in-law Doyle Mitchell of Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends.
