He was predeceased by: his parents, James Boyd Shealy and Geneva Lindler Shealy; and his siblings, Virley S. Shealy, Sara Shealy Klein, Noah E. Shealy, James B. Shealy, Jr., Rebecca Shealy Silvia, Jerry L. Shealy and Joe F. Shealy.

He is survived by: his wife H. Lorine Shealy; his children, Cindy Shealy Wilkerson (George) and Jimmy R. Shealy (Sande); his grandchildren, Lindsey Pooler (Jason), J. Ryan Shealy (Makayla), Haley L. Shealy and Justin Barger; his great grandchildren, Kate Barger, Grayson Barger, Margaret Pooler, Libby Pooler and J. Robert Shealy II; and his siblings, Earline Suydam, Athalee Rauch and Eugene Shealy (Ann). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
