He was predeceased by: his wife Janet Lee; his father Bobby McMurtry; and his siblings, Lisa McMurtry and Jim McMurtry. He is survived by: his mother Freda McMurtry; his children, Kristi Sanders (Daniel), Katie McMahan (William) and Taylor McMurtry (Mattie); and his grandchildren, Ashlyn Sanders, Carter Sanders, Caden McMahan, Chase McMahan and Elaine "Ellie" Joy McMurtry.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Parkway Baptist Church (505 Cunniff Pkwy, Goodlettsville, TN 37072). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
