He was predeceased by: his son Anthony; his parents, John H. Smith and Ruby Shepherd Smith; his sisters, Gaynell and Peggy of Hampton; and his close friends, Wayne Davis and Richard Hicks.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Radford Smith; his son Brian (Karen) of Elizabethton; his grandchildren, Andrea, Taylor of Hampton, Jacob of Elizabethton, Katie and Courtney of Elizabethton; and his brother James (Pansy) of Hampton. He is also survived by Several aunts, uncles and cousins.
