He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold and Carrie Brooks; his nephew Mark Brooks; his brother-in-law Kenneth Sexton; and his parents-in-law, Jess and Glenice Wilhoit.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Wilhoit Brooks; his brothers, Wayne Brooks and Lynn Brooks (Darlene); his niece Jeanine Franklin; his sisters-in-law, Jeanetta Sexton, Frances Gridley (Gary), Patricia Taylor (Lenten) and Janice Wilhoit; and his nieces and nephews, Shawn, Jason, Randy, Brian Brooks, Valerie Gonzalez, Stephanie Brobeck, Buffie Shepherd, Jessica Taylor, Brian Gridley and Dr. Patrick Taylor.
