He is survived by: his wife Janice Lynn Scheerer Amelang; his sons, Hans Siegfried Christian Amelang (Sara Gentry Amelang) of Memphis, Kurt Dietrich Amelang of Memphis, Franz Gerhardt Amelang of Memphis and Karl Friedrich Josef Amelang; his brother Ernst Josef Emil Amelang (Janet); his grandchildren, Ilse Payne Amelang, Josie Nicole Hall (Cody), Greta Amelang, Erynne Amelang and Gabrielle Zacharko; and his great grandchildren, James Jason Hall, Edward Elon Hall and Jackie Renee Hall. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
