He was predeceased by: his parents, Handy Whitson and Savannah Whitson (Canipe). He is survived by: his wife Shirley Whitson; his sons, Mick Whitson (Christine), Tim Whitson (Debbie) and Scott Whitson (Sherry); his grandchildren, Misty Peterson (Chris), Ashley Peterson (Jason), Holly Blankenship (Ryan), Rachel Davis (Kurt) and Michael Whitson; his great great grandchild Jaxson; and his sister Sharon Miller (James).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Gideon Bibles be purchased in Paul's memory.
