He is survived by: his wife Wanda Clingan Prater; his daughter Jill Prater Schoolfield (Scott); his granddaughter Allison Burk (Andy); his great grandchildren, Owen, Griffin and August; his grandson Eric Schoolfield (Sammy Jo); and his great grandchildren, Emma, Josie and Ellie.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37416.
