With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Major James H. McClure of Dyersburg, Tennessee, born in Union City, Tennessee, who passed away on August 6, 2024 at the age of 99. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As Major James departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Hays and Louise McClure (Harris); his brothers, William H. McClure and Dr. Jere P. McClure; and his friend Ruth Ann Jones.

He is survived by: his stepson Gary Gasaway of California; his niece Susanne Wilk of Florida; and his caregivers, Jimmy, Alma Ruth Michael of Newbern and Dick Barlow of Union City. He is also survived by two nephews; and good friends.
