He was predeceased by: his parents, Dalton Burgess and Jewel Vinson Burgess; and his brother Alvin Burgess. He is survived by: his wife Teresa Burgess; his daughters, Tabitha (Aaron) and Holly McGill; his sister Diane Draper (Junior); his grandchildren, Ethan, Owen, Jesse and Jewel; and his nephew Kevin Burgess (Shari).
