He is survived by: his wife Sharlene Buttry; his sons, Travis Olterman (Nellie), Arthur Olterman (Mary Ann) and Joseph Olterman (Monice); his grandchildren, Kalyn Olterman, Gracie Olterman, Sarah Olterman, Nathan Neisz, Brettney Neisz, Autumn Bowen, Joseph Olterman II, Carlee Lolmaugh and Ryland Olterman; his great grandchildren, Avea, Abel, Axel, Alex, Audi and Baby Ashley; and his siblings, Betty Davis, Ruby Reed, Lucille Cross, Charlie Buttry (Margaret), Darrell Buttry (Wanda), Kenny "Tom" Buttry and Roger Buttry (Angela). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
