He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherrod K. Mason Sr. and Johnnie Mae Mason; his son Sherrod K. Mason III; his siblings, Carl, John Swafford and Doris Gladden; and his nephew Clayton L. Mason III.

He is survived by: his daughters, Tara Mason of Chattanooga, TN and Latisha Mason of Lexington, KY; his grandchildren, Erris Mason, Madison Wells, Joyden Mason, Anthony Tutt and Jaden Mason; his great grandchild Isaiah Christopher; his brothers, Clayton L. Mason Sr. of Chattanooga, TN, Claude Mason of Chattanooga, TN and Cliff Mason Sr. of McDonough; his friends, Opal Jackson and Phyllis Maples of Chattanooga, TN; and his caregiver Alicia Harrison.
