He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean (Tate); his children, Debra Edwards (Jefferson) of Kansas City, MO and Joe Jr.; his grandchildren, Shareka Robinson Nelson, Honesty Joy Edwards of Kansas City, MO, Emiah Meshell Edwards and Jovarrus Lorenzo Stegall (Tiffany); his great grandchildren, Deneisa Hemphill, TiCalvius Armour, D'Igo Robinson and Selena Jewell Stegall; his great great grandchildren, Juel, Julek Hemphill, K'Dior and Royal Armour; and his sister-in-law Rosetta Stegall of Hampton, VA. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, and cousins.
