He was predeceased by: his grandchildren, Matthew Edward Brooks and Jennifer Mai Brooks; his sisters, Melba Sue Brooks Rich and Virginia Ruth Brooks; his father-in-law Glenn; his brothers, Mathie B. Brooks Jr. and Ronald Lee Brooks; his sister-in-law Shirley; and his wife Wilma Mai Green.
He is survived by: his children, Sherry Brooks Culver (Thomas) and Bobby Brooks (Jean Guinn Brooks) of Lafayette; his sister Ruby Brooks Thompson of Lafayette; and his grandchildren, Denise Vantrease (Shawn), Wendy Carter (Tim), Tasha Meador (Jeff), Chandra Stewart (John) and Thomas Taylor (Raychel). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
