He is survived by: his wife Emily Mai Gregory; his children, Cindy Key of Carthage, Bobbie Key of Carthage, Roy Key (Rita) of South Carthage, Scottie Key of Hartsville, Donnie Key (Suzanne) of Alexandria and Jeffrey Key of Carthage; his stepchildren, Stacey Norris of Livingston and Tyler Blanks of Carthage; his sisters, Diane Key Langley of Coats and Bonnie May McCormick of Lebanon; and his grandchildren, Travis Key, Amy Key, Lucas Key, D. J. Key, Jenna Hough, Logan Vanatta, Devin Vanatta, J. D. Key, Brenee Key, Tanisha Templeton, Christopher Blackwell, Michael Wayne Blackwell and Evelyn Dishman.
