He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Melvin and Nellie Frye Smith Cox; and his siblings, Rosetta Greene, Nora Bell Crout, Nathan Cox, Harry Cox, John Cox, Charley Cox, Joe Melvin Cox, Jr., Carl Cox, Herbert Cox and Fred Cox.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Jane Booher Cox; his children, Theresa McIntosh (Lucus), Freeman M. Cox, Jr. (Belinda), Curtis Cox, Kenneth Cox (Marcella) and Sidney Cox; his grandchildren, Christy Cox, Rachael Cox, Sarah Cox, Tyler Cox and Rebekah Cox; his great grandchild Lily Pewitt; his brother Adron Cox; and his nephews, Johnny Greene, Doug Cox, Brad Cox, David Cox, Glenn Booher and Lucus McIntosh. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
