It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Marie Hicks of Blountville, Tennessee, born in Gate City, Virginia, who passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husbands, Edward Denton and John Hicks, Jr.; her son Doug Denton; her siblings, Wanda Tankersley and James Tipton; and her great grandchild Matthew Mowdy.
She is survived by: her daughter Tonia Lane (Larry); her grandchildren, Melanie Spears (Danny), Lorrie Rainwater (Brad), Mandie Walker (Scott) and Cody Lane (Bethany); her great grandchildren, Megan Salyer (Colton), Austin Finch, Dalton Spears (Taylor), Madison Mowdy, Trevor Walker, James Walker, Abram Walker and Maddox Walker; her great great grandchildren, Rustin Mowdy and Naomi Mowdy; her siblings, Mabeline Honaker (Clyde) and Ralph Tipton; and her daughter-in-law Julia Denton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes - Kingsport (117 E Charlemont Ave, Kingsport, TN 37660). A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the East Lawn Memorial Park (4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664).
