With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elsie Whitehead of Big Rock, Tennessee, born in Stewart, Tennessee, who passed away on June 11, 2023 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Arnold Mitzel and Irene Odom Mitzel; her husband Donald Chester Whitehead; her son Daniel Wade Whitehead; her siblings, Lewis, John, Oscar, Joe Mitzel, June Clark, Francis Black and Annie Adair; her grandson Jacob Whitehead; and her daughter-in-law Marilyn Whitehead.
She is survived by: her sons, David Whitehead (Shari) of Big Rock, TN and Donald Whitehead of Granite City, IL; her brother James C. Mitzel of Paris, TN; her daughter-in-law Diana Whitehead (Dee) of Granite City, IL; and her grandchildren, Jennifer Toombs (Billy), Chrystal Crase (Matt), Matthew Whitehead (Jaclyn), Justin Whitehead (Ashley) and Josh Whitehead. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
