He was predeceased by: his parents, Clement Newman and Florence Newman (Windedahl); his stepfather Karl Carman; and his sister Valera Anderson. He is survived by: his former wives, Catherine Ratliff and Paulette Braley; his wife Paulette Newman of Volga; his sons, David Newman (Laura) of Nashville, TN, Dennis Newman (Paula) of Watertown, SD and Doug Newman (Rhonda) of Sioux Falls, SD; his stepdaughters, Michelle Stephens (Jim) of Rapid City, SD and Melissa Klapperich (Jesse) of Brandon, SD; his grandchildren, Ashten Rombough, Trevor Rombough, Ember Newman, Tom Newman, Nick Newman, Kaela Newman, Gavin Klapperich, Ava Barthel and Brielle Klapperich; and his great grandchild Willow Nachatilo.
In lieu of flowers, Coke's family encourages family and friends to address memorials to First Lutheran Church of Volga for the purchase of pew Bibles.
