He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Thorson and Cora Thorson (Hovey); his brothers, Leonard and Lauren Thorson; his stepson Jamie Gittings; and his sisters, Maxine "Mick" O'Reilly and Mildred Radway.
He is survived by: his sister Mildred Thorson; his wife Zoni Gittings of Philip; his children, Roger Thorson (Dallys) of Champaign, IL, Boyd Thorson of Philip and Diane Rensch (Pat) of Rapid City; his stepchildren, Gus Lutjens (Jody) of Sisseton, Jody Gittings of Philip, Dawn Coyle (Ronnie) of Philip and Julie Neugebauer (Bill Adams) of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his sister Janice Parsons (Bart) of Milesville; and his sisters-in-law, Phillis Thorson of Spearfish and Jan Riggins of Aberdeen. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
