He is survived by: his parents, Selmer Akland and Eleanor Akland (Sveeggen) of Beresford; his wife Marlene Akland; his daughters, Marilee Jones (Justin) of Bellevue, NE, Kayla Collins (Josh) of Sioux Falls and Jessica Akland of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Caleb, Nora Jones and Reagan Collins; his siblings, Donald Akland (Heather) of Silverdale, WA and Marcia Matson of Yankton; and his siblings-in-law, Gary Baker (Thelma) of Edgerton, MN, Hattie Haak (Elmer) of Dell Rapids, Bea Sieps (David) of Madison, Freda Nordstrom (Greg) of Sioux Falls and Marilyn Halbleib (Walter) of Baltic.
In 2016, Daryl was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, something that was very difficult for the family but made them treasure the moments they had together even more.
