He was predeceased by: his parents, Wylie Mason Johnson and Bessie Estes Johnson; and his siblings, Maggie Smith, Laura Spinks and W. M. Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Cain Johnson of York; his sons, John Lyle Johnson Jr. of York, Michael Todd Johnson of York and Eric Mason Johnson of York; and his sister Jean Haire of Rock Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
