She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank McKay and Hannah McKee; and her husband Theodore J. Phlegar, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Ian Phlegar (Julie) of Summerville, SC and Erica Jean Phlegar of Summerville, SC; her siblings, Frankie McKay (Linda) of Inverness, FL, Bill McKay (Geri) of Cateret, NJ, Tommy Simmons (Helen) of Seaside, NJ and Debbie Greco (Dave); her stepmother Catherine McKay of Jersey City, NJ; her grandchildren, Tyler Romero, Hannah Gore, Shelby Bateman (Matthew), Connor Phlegar and Evan Phlegar; and her great grandchild Dawson Bateman.

“Maureen was a very special woman. She had a big voice for a tiny woman. Her bravery and courage always walked with her. She worked out Cross Fit and Iron Wolf classes with folks twenty or thirty years younger than her. Her life was one of sobriety and serenity and she shared her gratitude and blessing whenever she spoke. She was an inspiration to women far younger than she. God Blessed her greatly with a wonderful family who shared in the blessings of her life. She will be greatly missed.”
