He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Victor Chappell and Nellie Pickreign Chappell; his son Michael Joseph Chappell; and his siblings, Gordon D. Chappell, Leonard Chappell and Theresa Switzer.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jean Burnard Chappell; and his grandchildren, Michael Joseph Chappell, Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Kimberly Ann Monaghan of Syracuse, NY. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
