He was predeceased by: his parents, John Adams and Delia Banks Adams; and his wife Betty Thompson Adams. He is survived by: his children, Betty Adams Ogbuneke (Juvernal) of Charlotte, NC, Beverly Whitlock of Rock Hill, SC, Angela LaCoste (John) of Rock Hill, SC, Joe Louis Adams, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC, Zackery Ervin (Ann) of Rock Hill, SC, Gerry Ervin of Rock Hill, SC, Ronnie Ervin (Carlotta) of Rock Hill, SC, Steve Ervin of Rock Hill, SC and Byron Thompson (Nareen) of New York, NY; and his grandson Dr. Juvarez Ogbuneke. He is also survived by numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Due to COVID 19, a private service will be held for Mr. Adams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Adams' name to the Alzheimer's Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Ste 1100, Chicago, IL 60611-1676.
