He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Leon Bennett and Annie Knight Bennett; and his wife Helen Green Bennett. He is survived by: his children, Teresa Wilson of Southern Pines, NC, Berry Bennett of Rock Hill, Crispin Bennett of Gulfport, MS and Kyle Bennett of Nashville, TN; and his siblings, Ralph Bennett, Ruby Thomas and Frances Homesley. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
