He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Thomas Gadsden and Marie Addison Gadsden; his daughter Alonia Maxine White; and his siblings, Harold Gadsden and Geraldine Davis.
He is survived by: his grandsons, Kadeem, Christopher, Joel Anthony, Darrell Jr. and Shadon; his wife Lavenia W. Gadsden; his children, Angela Crawford (Henry), Onnetha Lucas (William), Darrell Gadsden, Sr., Lincoln Maybank, Jermaine Gadsden (Errica) and Crystal Hall (Antonio); his granddaughter Antonia Monae White; his siblings, Winnie Williams (Harry), Charles Gadsden (Betty) and Everett Gadsden (Kathy); his siblings-in-law, Evelyn Gadsden, Martha Broughton (Alfred), Deloris Simmons (Alex) and Joe Bradley (Janice); his aunts, Mattie A. Gethers and Elizabeth B. Addison; his uncle Beauford Addison (Margaret); and his adoptive daughter Shannon Whitten (Glennie McClennon). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is not receiving friends at the home.
