He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Tanner and Lucille Tanner; his wife Rosa Jacquelyn Tanner "Jackie"; his daughter Gretchen Lucas Smith; his grandsons, Cooper Ray Tanner, James Lucas and Joey Lucas; and his siblings, Margie, Harold, William and Jeff.
He is survived by: his son Michael Tanner (Barbara); his grandsons, Chance and Jase Tanner; his brother Jerry Tanner (Evelyn); his daughter Susan Tindal (Phil); and his grandchildren, Jackie Lucas, Holli Tindal, Bridgette Still (Hal) and Dee Tindal. He is also survived by several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
