He was predeceased by: his parents, Judge Ridgely P. Melvin and Augusta B. Melvin; and his former wife Mary M. Melvin. He is survived by: his wife Jane Hazzard Melvin of Pawleys Island, SC; his children, John B. Melvin, Jr., Debra M. Farrell (Michael) of Annapolis, MD, Elizabeth P. Melvin of Annapolis, MD and Jennifer K. Melvin of Annapolis, MD; and his stepdaughter Della Ann B. Ellis (Charles) of Tucson, AR. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four step grandchildren.
