He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Alexander Bruce Altman and Leila Atkinson Altman; his wife Catherine Bennett Altman; his daughters, Cassie "Beth" Billings (Mike) of Greenville, NC, Ruthie Dreher of Moncks Corner and Susan Matkovich (Wally) of Moncks Corner; his grandchildren, Leila Matkovich, Andy Billings, Sullivan Matkovich, Hope Dreher, Isabelle Matkovich and Mary-Bennett Billings; and his great grandchild Molli-Reid Metts.
