He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Malcolm Frederick and Thelma Byerly, Sr.; his children, Vonnie Dale Williams (Susan) of Taylors, Sherry Anderson (Paul) of Taylors, Cynthia Marie Yosten (Roger), Malcolm Byerly of Gray Court and James Richard Byerly of Mauldin; and his sister Lynne Cheek. He was also cherished by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
