He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay May and Faye May of Laurens, SC.. He is survived by: his wife Donna; his children, Karen (Derek) of Atlanta and Scott (Natausha) of Mt. Pleasant; and his grandson Jackson May.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to The Citadel Foundation (Class of '68 Scholarship Fund), 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409.
