He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Jefferson Sumner and Savannah Bell Shaw Sumner; and his sisters, Judy Wise, Ruth Hamilton and Lillie Mae Samples.

He is survived by: his wife Pam Sumner; his children, Chris Sumner, April Alexander (Jerry) of Whitmire and Daisy Chrisley of Chapin; and his sister Vivian Long of Newberry. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
