He was predeceased by: his parents, Mildred Funchess Metz and Jacob Leonard Metz; his wife Phyllis; and his grandson Gregory Chandler Metz. He is survived by: his children, Charlotte Peterson (Troy) of Bamberg and Phillip Metz of Laurens; his grandsons, Bedell Metz, Caleb Peterson, Jonathan Peterson, Charles-Jacob Peterson, Josiah Peterson and Christopher Peterson; his great grandchild Oakley Metz; and his siblings, Beverly Kyzer (Wyman) of Lexington and William Metz (Sara) of Greer. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
