He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Wilson Avant and Mary Belk Avant; and his brother Jimmy Wilson Avant. He is survived by: his daughters, Ann Marie Avant and Corrie Amanda Avant (Doran); his grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Craig, Blake Hunter Adams (Brandi), Alexis Marie Gregory and Layne Benjamin Gregory; his great grandchildren, Elijah Kirkland and Ava Kirkland; his sister Elinor Neill (Alvin); his nephew Scott Neill (Rose); his niece Cheryl McAteer (Sam); and his cousins, Jason Neal and Mike Turner.
