He was predeceased by: his father I. Neal Madden; and his brothers, James Edward and George Thomas Madden of Murphy. He is survived by: his mother Jane Madden; his children, Andrew Madden of Knoxville, Tennessee, Erin Bryson (Devin) of Andrews and Lisa Brown; his brother Neal Madden of Saluda; and his nieces, Beth Madden of Asheville and Heather Madden of Clayton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of John W. Madden to the Little Brasstown Baptist Church, PO Box 12, Brasstown, NC 28902.
