He was predeceased by: his parents, Duncan Reid and Elizabeth Barnes Reid; his wife Essie Mae Pate Reid; and his children, Denise R. Catoe and Sylvester Reid.
He is survived by: his daughters, Barbara Winchester (Eric) of Charlotte, NC and Carolyn Reid of Lancaster, S. C.. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
