He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Miesse and Irene Miesse of Gahanna, OH.; and his granddaughter Jenna. He is survived by: his children, Beth Saadati (Komron) of Mauldin, SC and Thomas Miesse (Forrest) of St. Joseph, MI; his brother Byron Miesse (Nancy) of Lake Placid, FL.; and his grandchildren, Jonathan, Christa, Anna, Josh and Braden.

Gary spent the majority of his later years faithfully caring for Ellen before she passed from early-onset Alzheimer's in 2020.
