He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Pearson Pettit, Sr. and Gladys Varnadore Pettit; his stepson Alvin Schlauch; his brother Herbert "Butch" Pettit, Jr. (Linda); and his nephews, Russell, Brian and Greg Pettit.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Michael Pettit; his children, Kenneth Pettit, Sr. of Fort Lawn and Crystal Pettit of Rock Hill; and his stepchildren, Anthony Schlauch of Lancaster, Jeffery Schlauch of Fort Lawn and Kimberly Melton of Edgemoor. He is also survived by three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
