He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Peterson and Ethel Bolin Peterson; his children, Candace "Candy" Ramsey and Michael Peterson; and his brothers, Robert Peterson and Jesse Peterson.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Chaney Peterson; his children, Virgil Lynn Peterson of Greenwood, Johnny Biggs of Wyoming, Cathy Allison of Gaffney, Wanda Biggs of Spartanburg and Linda Wheeler (Drew) of Gaffney; and his sisters, Maggie Hill of Gaffney, Margie Calvert of Gaffney, Sally Elliott of Gaffney and Jean Peterson of Gaffney. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
