He was predeceased by: his wife Pauline Painter Pierce; his parents, Floyd Jack Pierce and Alice Wyatt Pierce; his son Michael Deal Pierce; and his brothers, Paul Pierce, Floyd Pierce Jr., Frank Pierce and Terry Pierce.
He is survived by: his children, Joey Bright (Patricia) of Gaffney and Tracie Ramsey of Gaffney; and his brother Larry Pierce (Brenda) of Gaffney.
