He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Carl Vernon Mullinax and Sara Painter Mullinax; and his brother Jefferey Mullinax. He is survived by: his wife Janet Riddle Mullinax; his children, Gerald Mullinax Sr. of Gaffney and Kimberly Arrowood Mullinax; his brothers, Larry Mullinax (Becky) of Gaffney and Avery Mullinax (Rita) of Gaffney; and his grandchildren, Rachel Mullinax, Gerald Mullinax Jr., Daniel Mullinax, Bradley Arrowood, Julian Arrowood, Skylar Martin and Isaac Martin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
