He was predeceased by: his parents, James Luther Burns, Sr. and Bessie Frye Burns; and his sister Phyllis Burns. He is survived by: his wife Sara Vaughan Burns; his daughters, Jean Ann Burns (Stephanie) and Dawn Lintz; his stepchildren, Beverly Saindon (Lee) and David Vaughan (Celeste); and his brother James Burns, Jr. (Brenda).
