He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Smith of Pennsylvania and Leona Slauzis Smith of Pennsylvania; and his stepson T. Lee Branham. He is survived by: his wife Sennetta; his children, Ronald Smith (Kami) and Anna Amsler; his stepdaughters, Minette Edenfield (Danny) and Stephanie Brown; his stepdaughter-in-law Andrea Branham; and his sisters, Shirley Smith and Donna Hitt (Mike).
