He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Oliver Clayton, Sr. and Helen Berry Clayton; his close friend Jean Reeves; his daughters, Joni Lynn Horne (Jim) of St. George and Toni Gwen Shieder (Huey) of St. George; his grandchildren, Kimberly Horne Dukes (Gene), James Samuel Horne, IV (Emily), Katie Horne Love (Bryan) and Joey Shieder (Summer); his great grandchildren, Hadley Dukes and Sellers Horne; his sister Anna Margaret Carter; and his nieces and nephews, Laverne Smith (Banks), Donna Faye Spayth (Fred), Carlisle "Bub" Carter, Jr. (Barbara), Michael Carter (Rebecca), Johnny Carter (Pam) and Bryan Carter.
