He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Emmit McGhie, Sr. and Ruth Jones McGhie; his son John M. McGhie; and his sister Helen Case. He is survived by: his wife Mary Groves McGhie; his sister Eileen Browne of New Jersey; his children, Deborah Frakes (Stephen), Robin Loadholt (Tony McLane) and Bobby McGhie (Rhonda); his stepchildren, Dallas Ackerman (Nicole) and David Ackerman (Jacque); and his grandchildren, April Cooke Nicholas Thomas (Wesley), Tyler McGhie, Ryan McGhie (Rachel), Mary Beth Latham (Jason), Joey Loadholt, Brooke Mize (Cole), Kayla Cyr (Cody), Cassidy Ackerman, Hannah Biering and Caleb Rabon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the following: Shriners Hospital for Children; or to, St. Jude Children's Hospital.
